“The Electricity Control Board (ECB) of Namibia is the national regulatory authority responsible for overseeing and regulating the electricity supply industry. Its mandate includes ensuring the efficient, reliable, and affordable supply of electricity, promoting competition where feasible, and protecting consumer interests while ensuring financial viability in the sector. The ECB operates under the Electricity Act, 2007 (Act No. 4 of 2007), which provides the legal framework for regulating electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply in Namibia. This Act repealed the earlier Electricity Act of 2000 and strengthened the ECB’s role in licensing, tariff regulation, dispute resolution, and promoting investment in the electricity sector.
